"School and family working for the total child."
The Eagle's Nest Club is a school age childcare program offering activities for kindergarten throught fifth grade students attending Lewis Ames Elementary. We focus on child-centered care which complements the school day experience of Ames students. Activities promote the developement of the whole child and vary with the number, ages, and interests of participating children. Children learn to function cooperatively and positively with one another.
What does a typical day in Eagle’s Nest look like? In the morning, as you walk into the building, you see other kids playing games, coloring, writing, and reading. Soon after arriving, all of the students are gathered into the classroom for an interactive science experiment related to one of the Earth’s biomes. After you are dismissed from your school day, you arrive in the lunchroom and are greeted by the warm smiles of the staff, and a delicious, well-balanced snack is waiting for you. After snack you head outside for recess. Next you are provided with assisted homework time, and if you don’t have homework, you can take part in a read-aloud, or in independent literacy exploration. An art project ends your day. It may be a drawing, a painting, a sculpture, or a collage.
To ensure quality adult guidance for the participating students, a ratio of one adult for every fifteen students is maintained at all times.
