I am Mrs. Debra Shiflet, Integrated Learning/Technology Specialist. I started teaching at Ames as I completed my Masters in Education, Information Learning Technology from UCD. I have a K-12 School Library Media Endorsement. As a young student, I was a Navy brat and attended six different schools during my elementary years. My love for books and curiousities about the world ignited when I was 10 and we lived above the base librarian while my dad was stationed in Turkey. Visting Miss Ann was always an adventure....her apartment was filled with books and treasures from all corners of the globe. My 4th grade teacher was from Greece and instilled in me a passion for reading and adventure as well, especially when he dramatically shared mythologies with us and kept us on edge daily as incentive to read and suceed using "SRA" stories and activities. I love working with my students and hope I spark their interests and learning whether it be through books, research, or using the many technologies available today.
